Estimating an Additive Path Cost With Explicit Congestion Notification

چکیده
Network utility maximization is a well-accepted theoretical framework that describes how congestion controls cooperate to achieve an ideal sending rate allocation, for given functions of senders and constraints the network. These network are expressed as “cost” in framework. In practice, most control mechanisms obtain feedback different from framework's “cost.” This article focuses on explicit notification (ECN), which has been shown be advantageous when it available, e.g., with popular datacenter transmission protocol mechanism. However, cost, ECN marks not additive. We present practical solution this problem; changes end hosts interpret signal, while routers, special configuration random early detection used.

Adaptive explicit congestion notification
Using ns-2 simulations, this paper evaluates an Adaptive Explicit Congestion Notification (AECN) router. By receiving round-trip time (RTT) source hints from each TCP flow, AECN divides flows into flow groups based on RTT ranges. AECN uses distinct flow group drop probabilities and a mark front scheme to provide higher goodput and better fairness than Random Early Detection (RED) and Explicit C...
متن کاملCongestion Control Using Multilevel Explicit Congestion Notification
Congestion remains one of the main obstacles to the Quality of Service (QoS) on the Internet. We think that a good solution to Internet congestion should optimally combine congestion signaling from network and source reaction, with the following as its main goals: minimum losses and delays, maximum network utilization, fairness among flows, and last but not least, scalability of the solution. T...
متن کاملScalable Layered Multicast with Explicit Congestion Notification
Many Layered Multicast (LM) congestion control schemes have been proposed to serve different users with heterogeneous bandwidth requirements. Most of the LM algorithms suffer from a large IGMP leave latency and a sudden rate increase. Layered Increase/Decrease with Dynamic Layering (FLID-DL) was introduced to address these challenges. Nevertheless, FLID-DL can neither provide very good bandwidt...
متن کاملTraffic Management using Multilevel Explicit Congestion Notification
In this paper we present a new traffic management scheme based on an enhanced Explicit Congestion Notification (ECN) mechanism. In particular we used multilevel ECN, which conveys more accurate feedback information about the network congestion status than the current two levels ECN. We have designed a TCP source reaction that takes advantage of the extra information about congestion and tunes b...
